(Port) Wine of the month February 2024: The Vintage Ports of 1994

1994 is a magical Port year – the first since many years to really impress with an overall quality, but also this is not that easy since some Ports already are in their last stage of enjoyment. One more reason to taste all these Ports again. During my research I organized a tasting with the enologists who had their “boots on the ground” in 1994 (from left: David Guimaraens (Fladgate), George Sandeman, Dirk Niepoort, Nick Delaforce, Johnny Graham (Churchill) und Peter Symington (Graham, Dow, Vesuvio, Warre). The top producers of this year are Vesuvio, Fonseca, Taylors and the other three top-brands from the Symingtons, but there are some surprises.
